Vung Tau was known as Cap Saint-Jacques under French occupation. It is just 125 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. Once this seaside resort was a popular beach destination for French and American service man. Vung Tau is one of the popular seaside resorts of Vietnam with sandy beaches, transparent warm blue water all the year round. 08:00 In the morning: visit Niet Ban Tinh Xa, (Nirvana Meditation Retreat) and Thich Ca Phat Dai (a Buddhist Shrine).
French-built White House ( White Palace Bach Dinh or the White Mansion was built during the French occupation. The mansion sits at the bottom of Nui Lon overlooking the East Sea and is one of Vung Tau’s major landmark. Work on the mansion began in 1898 and was completed in 1916. Commissioned by French governor Paul Doumer, this mansion has served as summer retreat for Emperor Bao Dai as well as vacation home for vietnamese heads of state. The mansion is 50 m above sea level and is designed in the style of 19th century French architecture.
Giant Jesus Atop Small Mountain with his arms outstretched to embrace the East Sea, this 32m giant Jesus is one of the biggest in the world. It’s possible to ascend to the arms for a panoramic view of Vung Tau. Note: The statue is treated like a church, therefore your shoes must be removed, knees and shoulders covered, no tank tops are allowed.
Lunch at local restaurant. Transfer back to Saigon and shopping in Ben Thanh market and dinner at local restaurant.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
